LA COSA LIVE CASSETTES

lacosalive

LA COSA LIVE TAPE
By: Heavy Gel & La Cosa
Media: Cassette
Length: 90min
Edition: 25

$5.00

Heavy Gel recently got access to a cassette tape duplicator, so of course we made some tapes for Chicago noise rock, sex cult, La Cosa. This is a live tape from two April 2015 appearances. The A side features the band live on the air at W.Z.R.D. complete with calls in’s from the local flavors, and an interview with the band. B side is a live show at Live Wire.

La Cosa has grown and changed a lot since their first official release in 2013. This tape reflects the current lineup and sound, where each of the 7 members contributes to an intricate wall of undulating noise, samples, feedback, and squeaks of un-pinpoinable  origin.

VAMOS!

Criminal Hygiene

Astatic

Hannah Melde will be exhibiting (and selling at astronomically reasonable prices!!) some fantastic collage work.

And if that’s not enough to bring you out- there will be a very young puppy in attendance, and you might even be able to get one of these posters.

Consolation Prize

played a show

I’ll be the first to admit, running an event space is just as difficult as I thought it would be. All the stories you’ve heard- they’re true. June was full of tribulations. We begun to wonder if we poured our concrete over a sacred burial ground.

Heavy Gel is sad to inform you that we’ll be taking a hiatus from musical events. We will continue having art shows and readings and interested artist and writers should contact info@heavygel.com for more info about participating.

We are also existing as an art, design and screen printing studio, and extending these services to our music and art community. Contact us for rates on anything from posters, t-shirts, buttons and stickers, to websites and album art. We work on a sliding scale. We’ll be having open studio nights every Wed at 7pm. Come draw with us!

These shirts were printed as a consolation prize for those who almost got arrested, died, or played a show. Recipients get to write whatever they like on the blank line. These’ll be up for sale in our shop soon, if you want one, contact us and let us know what size.

Still Life With Ball and Plate

sad bastards

Heavy Gel put together this show with Arvo Zylo, a mix of experimental singer songwriters, and noise.

Zack Kouns, electronics/noise and ethnic instruments/folk music. He plays music with voice, tenor and alto saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, temple blocks, chinese opera gong, tape manipulation, violin, banjo.

Arvo Zylo/ Blood Rythms, “Arvo Zylo’s recordings / talents run the range from truly overwhelming, confrontational / chilling harsh noise, to thought-provoking experimental sounds rooted in the 1980s Raplh/LAFMS/post-TG international “noise boom.”

Duncan Allen-Burns, textural sad bastard.

Health&Beauty, the best tape I’ve bought this year. Great singer-songwriter. Can’t wait to see it live @ EL MAMEY, FRIDAY JUNE 21st!
