SONNENZIMMER IN LA

DSC_0157

I absolutely love studio visits, I mean, really, what artist doesn’t?! So when Chicago print extraordinaires,
Sonnenzimmer
,
e-mailed me that they were coming to LA for a week long intensive workshop at Cal Arts, and a one day pop up at The Quite Life,  I invited them to drop by and check out Heavy Gel.a.

About a year ago, Sonnenzimmer did an interview with us where we discussed the art scene in LA and why we moved out here from Chicago. It was nice to catch up and compare print scenes.

Print makers out in LA are a rarer and of different breed than in Chicago. After two years  here I feel I’m still just scraping the surface on LA’s massive art scene, and I so rarely get to spend time with other print professionals on this coast. It was nice to see some familiar faces in this vast, sunlit city.

The print and design duo is giving a public lecture this Thursday at Cal Arts, and if you’re even mildly interested in printmaking, I suggest you don’t miss it!
